How did the stock market start the day? (February 9, 2024)

The stock market began the final day of the week with a record.

At the opening, the BIST 100 index gained 43.33 points, or 0.48 percent, compared to the previous close, rising to 8,993.12 points.

The banking index recorded a 0.25 percent increase, while the holding index rose by 0.49 percent. Among sector indices, financial leasing and factoring was the top gainer with 1.24 percent, while insurance was the only decliner, falling by 0.11 percent.

Yesterday, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul followed a buying-weighted trend, closing the day with a 1.21 percent gain at 8,949.79 points, setting a new closing record. The index also reached an all-time high of 8,990.37 points during the session.

Analysts stated that risk appetite remains strong in global equity markets as data released in the US points to a resilient economy, supporting "soft landing" scenarios, and as corporate earnings worldwide continue to exceed expectations.
