The stock market started the day with a decline

At the opening, the BIST 100 index fell by 15.77 points and 0.18 percent compared to the previous close, dropping to 8,702.35 points.

The banking index and the holding index followed a flat course. Among the sector indices, tourism was the top gainer with 1.55 percent, while trade was the top loser with 0.85 percent.

The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul, which followed a bearish trend yesterday, completed the day with a 1.25 percent loss at 8,718.11 points.

In global markets, while pricing continues to become difficult as the Bank of Japan (BoJ) ends its negative interest rate era after nearly 10 years, a busy macroeconomic data calendar remains in the focus of investors ahead of the monetary policy decisions to be announced by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) tomorrow.

Analysts stated that the international investment position will be monitored domestically today, while the ZEW economic sentiment index data in the Eurozone and Germany, as well as building permits and housing starts in the US, will be followed abroad, noting that technically, the 8,700 and 8,600 levels are support, and 8,800 and 9,000 points are resistance for the BIST 100 index.
