Humanitarian aid to Gaza cleared

US President Joe Biden announced that Israel has agreed to allow humanitarian aid to be sent from Egypt to Gaza.

In a statement made before departing Tel Aviv, Biden said that Israel would not block the flow of food and water to those in the south of Gaza.

Biden also announced that 100 million dollars in humanitarian aid would be provided to Gaza and the West Bank.

Speaking to journalists, Biden said that the Pentagon had shown him evidence indicating that Israel was not responsible for the hospital explosion in Gaza on Tuesday night that resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives.

Biden will deliver a speech from the Oval Office on Thursday evening, US time, to "explain the US response to Hamas's terrorist attacks against Israel and Russia's ongoing brutal war against Ukraine."

The Israeli government also stated that it has accepted the passage of humanitarian aid on the condition that these supplies are not diverted to Hamas.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is visiting Israel today. A statement from the UK Prime Minister's Office indicated that Sunak will hold talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog, and will subsequently travel to "a number of other regional capitals."
