Index contract starts the day with gains in VIOP

The February-dated index contract traded at 9,932.00 in the opening session, 0.2 percent above the previous normal session close.

Yesterday, the index contract followed a bullish trend and completed the normal session at 9,916.00 points, 1.1 percent above its previous close. The index contract continued its rise in the evening session, reaching 9,941.00 points.

Analysts stated that global equity markets are following a mixed trend due to increased stock and sector-based volatility during the busy earnings season, noting that eyes are now turned to the heavy data agenda, primarily the inflation data to be announced in the US today.

Domestically, while balance of payments data remains in the focus of investors, economists participating in the AA Finance Balance of Payments Expectation Survey estimate that the current account deficit was 3 billion 83 million dollars in December 2023.

On the other hand, Turkey's 5-year credit default swap (CDS), which continues its downward trend, stands at 299 basis points at the start of the new day.

Analysts, who stated that retail sales and foreign trade indices will be monitored domestically today, and ZEW expectation indices in Germany and the Eurozone as well as inflation data in the US will be followed abroad, noted that technically, the 10,000 and 10,250 levels are resistance, while 9,900 and 9,800 points are support positions for the index contract.
