Istanbul at the top in agricultural exports! 772.3 million dollars in exports in January

Istanbul also took the top spot in January with 772.3 million dollars in exports generated by the agricultural sector.

According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkey's agricultural exports increased by 9.3 percent on an annual basis in January, reaching 3.1 billion dollars. The share of agricultural exports in total exports was 18.2 percent.

Istanbul, which acts as a locomotive for Turkey's exports, also led the way in delivering agricultural products to all corners of the world. As the province with the highest exports in January, with 7.2 billion dollars in foreign sales, Istanbul also stood out with 772.3 million dollars in agricultural product exports. The city thus accounted for 24.7 percent of Turkey's total agricultural exports.

Istanbul was followed by Izmir with 371.8 million dollars, Gaziantep with 316.1 million dollars, Mersin with 208.3 million dollars, Antalya with 113.6 million dollars, Bursa with 101.9 million dollars, Ankara with 92.9 million dollars, Trabzon with 90.9 million dollars, Hatay with 89.5 million dollars, and Adana with 85.5 million dollars.

Looking at sub-sectors under the agriculture heading, the cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and products sector generated the highest exports in Istanbul with 300 million 73 thousand dollars. This sector was followed by furniture, paper, and forest products with 245.8 million dollars, aquatic products and animal products with 61.7 million dollars, and fruit and vegetable products with 57.4 million dollars.
