Istanbul's December inflation figures announced

Istanbul's December inflation figures announced

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the Istanbul Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Wholesale Price Index data for December 2025. According to the data, the CPI, which tracks retail price movements in Istanbul, saw a monthly increase of 1.23 percent in December. On an annual basis, the rate of increase was recorded at 37.68 percent.

HIGHEST PRICE HIKES IN RESTAURANTS AND HOTELS

The expenditure categories that had the greatest impact on price increases in December were restaurants and hotels. Prices in this sector rose by 3.24 percent. Additionally, price adjustments for certain products in health expenditures and increases in food expenditures due to seasonal winter effects were also influential.

As of December in Istanbul, the other expenditure groups that showed the highest increase in retail prices compared to the previous month were as follows:

Housing expenditures: 1.9%

Restaurants and hotels: 3.24%

Culture and entertainment: 1.38%

Education: 0.09%

Household goods: 2%

Food: 1.65%

Health: 2.93%

Miscellaneous goods and services: 2.25%

WHOLESALE PRICE INDEX ROSE IN DECEMBER

In December 2025, an increase of 0.93 percent was observed in wholesale prices compared to the previous month. While there was a 23.25 percent rise in wholesale prices on an annual basis, the annual average rate of change was 26.95 percent.

The changes recorded in wholesale prices in December are as follows:

Mining: 11.81% increase

Foodstuffs: 0.81% increase

Construction materials: 0.74% increase

Chemicals: -0.05% decrease

Fuel and energy materials: -0.57% decrease

Raw materials: -0.84% decrease
