Investors who left behind the first week of the new year at Borsa Istanbul closely followed how the volatility in the BIST 100 index reflected on the gaining and losing stocks. While the index finished the week with a significant rise, stocks that stood out with surprise returns drew attention.

At the beginning of 2026, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul, which saw intense investor interest, reached a new record by reaching 12,668.52 points with a 3.83% increase in value on a weekly basis. Continuing its rise until the last trading day of the week, the index saw its highest level at the close of the week. While the index saw its lowest point of the week at 12,228.02 points, it achieved its highest value at the end of the week.

While economic indicators from abroad, especially from the US, were closely followed, the 10-day uninterrupted rise series in the BIST 100 index ended with a short-term decline in the middle of the week. However, after this short decline, the index continued its upward movement again.

While a loss of 0.71% was observed in bank stocks and 1.52% in holdings, stocks in the industrial sector provided a return of 7.37% to their investors this week.

THE TOP GAINERS AND LOSERS OF THE WEEK

Last week, the stock that rose the most in the BIST 100 index was Batısöke Çimento (BSOKE). The company's shares stood out as the top gainer of the week with a 52.52% value gain. Following the list, Astor Enerji (ASTOR) took second place with a 20.11% rise, and Batı Çimento (BTCIM) took third place with 18.93%.

On the other hand, among the stocks traded on the BIST 100 that caused the most losses for their investors, Kiler Holding (KLRHO) topped the list with 17.42%. While Ral Yatırım Holding (RALYH) finished the week with a 13% loss, Dap Gayrimenkul (DAPGM) experienced an 8.75% decline.

Maintaining its leadership among companies in terms of market value, ASELSAN (ASELS) was again at the top of the list with a market value of 1 trillion 410 billion 180 million TL. While Garanti BBVA (GARAN) rose to second place with 608 billion 160 million TL, Kiler Holding (KLRHO) found its place in third place with a market value of 593 billion 125 million TL.

Among the stocks that investors showed intense interest in, Aselsan (ASELS) stood out in terms of trading volume. ASELSAN took the first place with a trading volume of 82 billion 576 million TL. Türk Hava Yolları (THYAO) achieved second place with a trading volume of 72 billion 777 million TL, and Türk Altın İşletmeleri (TRALT) took third place with 53 billion 802 million TL.
