KESK: We are becoming poorer every day with virtual inflation figures
The Confederation of Public Employees' Trade Unions (KESK) stated that public employees and retirees are becoming poorer every day due to virtual inflation figures.
The Confederation of Public Employees' Trade Unions (KESK) made statements regarding public employees and retirees following the announced inflation rate. KESK declared, "A life in conditions of misery has been imposed."
The statement made by KESK regarding the matter is as follows;
Through TÜİK, which announced the December inflation figure as 2.93% despite the manipulation of the inflation basket, the government has once again pulled the real inflation figures down by at least 25% and imposed a life in conditions of misery upon us.
On this basis, we underline that the total wage increase of 46.57% for public employees and retirees only covers a portion of the wages eroded by inflation; we share with the public that the poverty line is over 50,000 TL in a country where, as ENAG also announced, the inflation for December alone was 4.12%; and we state once again that the power to change the anti-labor policies of the government, which hands over the rights of labor to rent and capital, lies with public employees, retirees, workers, and the impoverished people.
