Mahfi Eğilmez shares insight that money cannot be earned from interest
Economist Dr. Mahfi Eğilmez commented on earning money from interest in an assessment shared on his social media account.
While the interest rate steps taken to curb rising inflation have led to an increase in reserves, they are causing citizens to pay extremely heavy prices in their daily lives.
At a time when buying a house or a car has become a dream due to rising loan interest rates, a striking assessment regarding the interest rate hike has come from Economist Dr. Mahfi Eğilmez.
Stating that, contrary to the common belief among citizens, it is not really possible to earn money from interest, Eğilmez made the following post:
"Many people think that money is earned from interest. However, as of now, money is not being earned from interest, but from the exchange rate. Interest is 25 - 30 points behind inflation. But because the exchange rate has stabilized, interest is turning into dollar interest rather than TL interest."
