Major coffee chain faces bankruptcy
A bankruptcy petition has been filed against the famous coffee chain Gloria Jean's. A construction company has requested the bankruptcy of the brand, which was previously owned by Mehmet Dinçerler. According to the Trade Registry Gazette, the company currently appears to be owned by Uğur Bıkım.
According to the case file at the Bakırköy 1st Commercial Court of First Instance, the construction company City Center İnşaat Turizm ve İşletmecilik AŞ (Özyurt AŞ) has filed a lawsuit requesting bankruptcy.
According to a report by Çiğdem Tosun from HalkTV, the creditor City Center has requested the bankruptcy of Grup DNC Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ, the company behind Gloria Jean's, which has a capital of 6.5 million TL. The first hearing of the case will be held on October 10, 2024.
Gloria Jean's is a significant brand with a total of 1,200 branches, including those in Turkey. The company is associated with businessman Mehmet Dinçerler. According to Trade Registry Gazette records, it has appeared to be owned by Uğur Bıkım since March of last year.
Mehmet Dinçerler had previously requested a concordat for his family's business, Hacı Sayid Baklava, in addition to his own company. Dinçerler was once married to the singer Hadise.
