Major price hike coming for diesel
Fuel products continue to see price hikes one after another. Diesel prices will increase again, effective from midnight tonight.
The wave of price hikes in fuel, which accelerated after the elections, will continue today.
According to the report in Sözcü, there will be a 2 TL increase per liter of diesel starting from midnight tonight.
With the hike, the price per liter of diesel will rise to approximately 40 TL in Istanbul, 40.54 TL in Ankara, and 40.71 TL in Izmir.
Thus, the 40 lira threshold will be crossed for the first time for a liter of diesel.
A new price hike for gasoline is expected as of tomorrow.
115 PERCENT HIKE AFTER THE ELECTION
On the other hand, before the May 14 elections, the price per liter was 19.81 TL for gasoline and 18.58 TL for diesel in Istanbul.
In the approximately three months since the election, the rate of increase in diesel has exceeded 105 percent.
The government, which kept exchange rates stable before the election by selling reserves and implementing tax cuts, raised the exchange rate and made historic tax hikes immediately after the election.
Fuel prices, which first saw double digits by exceeding 10 TL in December 2021, will have quadrupled in just 21 months to exceed 40 TL.
