"Mass production" demands are causing safety lapses

According to a report by the New York Post, it has emerged that a software engineer was attacked by a "malfunctioning" robot at a Tesla factory in Austin in 2021.

Witnesses at the factory stated to the website The Information that the robot, designed to move aluminum car parts on the production floor, sank its metal claws into the engineer's back and arm, pinning them and causing injuries.

Witnesses reported that another employee pressed the "emergency stop" button while the engineer was trying to escape the robot.

It was noted that the engineer sustained a small cut on their left hand as a result of the robot's intervention.

According to sources reached by The Information, "mass production" demands at the Tesla factory are leading to safety lapses.

According to an "injury" report filed with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, one in every 21 employees at the factory in question suffered various injuries in 2022, whereas in U.S. automobile factories, one in every 38 workers is injured on the job.

Furthermore, reports reviewed by The Information found that employees at the Tesla factory were exposed to various ailments due to toxic substances such as ammonia.

A worker at the same factory had lost their life due to "heat stroke" in 2021.
