Mehmet Şimşek announces: Flash development regarding public austerity measures!

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek provided information regarding the work carried out by his Ministry in line with the Presidential Circular on Austerity Measures.

Şimşek stated that measures in accordance with the Austerity Measures Circular are also being planned within his own ministry, and explained that in this context, an important project has been undertaken by his ministry's General Directorates of Accounting and Information Technologies.

Şimşek said, "We will implement the Artificial Intelligence-Supported Accounting and Advanced Analytics Project to ensure efficiency, quality, speed, and savings in public expenditures through an early warning system. With artificial intelligence, the effectiveness of decision-making and policy development processes will be increased, inefficient spending areas will be eliminated, new spending areas will be restricted, and efficiency in public expenditures will be increased. By establishing an artificial intelligence-supported risk-focused financial audit infrastructure, we will contribute to the effectiveness of internal and external audit activities."

'EXPENSES AND SPENDING HABITS WILL BE ANALYZED'

Stating that the project will be carried out within the scope of the Integrated Public Financial Management Information System, Şimşek used the expression, "Artificial intelligence will analyze our expenses in detail, identify savings opportunities, and offer institutionalized spending recommendations by analyzing the spending habits of our institutions."

Stating that TÜBİTAK BİLGEM is the technology partner in the project, Şimşek continued as follows:

"Artificial intelligence will use data analysis and artificial intelligence methods on data within the scope of use cases to be developed on platforms such as accounting, payment, escrow, collection, financial statistics, expenditure, salary, and movable property affiliated with the General Directorate of Accounting. We aim to complete the preliminary preparation work within two months and to make expenditures and payments with artificial intelligence support at the end of a short period of 12 months. The artificial intelligence project, which will add great value to our country's public expenditures in terms of quality, will support the Austerity Measures Circular with a concrete project and provide added value to our country's economy."
