Mehmet Şimşek evaluates economic growth data

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made evaluations regarding the growth rate recorded by the Turkish economy in the first quarter of the year and the disinflation process in a statement he made on social media.

Şimşek stated that the economy is showing moderate growth and that disinflation is continuing.

Noting that the economy grew by 2 percent on an annual basis in the first quarter of the year, Şimşek said that the ratio of the current account deficit to national income remained at the 0.9 percent level, which is a sustainable level.

Drawing attention to the importance of the measures taken during this process, Şimşek said, "We are acting quickly with a holistic approach against the effects that may arise during the disinflation process. We are increasing the resilience of our economy by supporting investment, employment, production, and exports."

Şimşek stated that they are strengthening the dynamism of the economy and its potential for sustainable high growth with the programs they have implemented. In this context, he emphasized that the necessary steps are being taken to solidify the foundations of the economy.
