Memur-Sen challenges the government: Base proposals finalized

Eyes have turned to the Preliminary Negotiation Meeting on General Proposals to be held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security during the collective bargaining process that will determine the financial and social rights of public officials. Making statements before the meeting, Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın called on the public employer to present an offer without wasting time.

'12 DAYS LEFT UNTIL NEGOTIATIONS END'

Drawing attention to the collective bargaining calendar, Yalçın emphasized that the process must move quickly. Noting the importance of the table working continuously during the negotiation process, Yalçın stated, “According to the legislation, the process needs to begin on August 19. In other words, negotiations have not yet started, but there are 12 days left until they end. In this respect, it is important that the preliminary negotiations are coming to an end. From here on, we are obliged to carry out the negotiation process without wasting any time. There is a need for the table to work without interruption.”

'THE OFFER MUST COME ON AUGUST 6'

Pointing to the time elapsed since the first session, Yalçın stated that the public employer should not wait for the calendar to present an offer, saying, “10 days have passed since the first session. The public employer should come with an offer on August 6 without waiting for August 12.”

'WE ARE EXPERIENCING INCOME LOSSES DUE TO INFLATION'

Touching on economic indicators, Yalçın said that the announced inflation data is eroding the purchasing power of civil servants. Stating that income losses have increased following the CPI data announced in July, Yalçın said, “July inflation has been announced. We are experiencing income losses due to inflation. It is stated that inflation is expected to be 30 percent by the end of this year. The Minister of Finance said that inflation is at its lowest level in 44 months. I, too, state that we are at the lowest level in recent times in terms of purchasing power.”

MEMUR-SEN'S BASE PROPOSAL FINALIZED

Memur-Sen has shared its demands with the public for the period covering 2026 and 2027. Accordingly, the union is requesting a 25 percent raise, a 10 percent welfare share, and a 10 thousand TL base salary increase for the first period of 2026. For the second period of the same year, a 20 percent raise is requested.

For 2027, Memur-Sen is requesting a 20 percent raise and a 7 thousand 500 TL base salary increase in the first period, and a 15 percent salary raise in the second period.
