Midday in the markets: Latest on foreign exchange, stock market, and gold (March 19, 2024)

As of 1:00 PM, the index had increased by 134.16 points compared to the previous close. The BIST 100 index, which closed at 8,718.11 points yesterday, began the day at 8,702.35 points, a decrease of 15.77 points or 0.18 percent.

During the first half of the day, the index saw a low of 8,695.39 points and a high of 8,852.69 points.

In the first half of the day, the financial index gained 1.70 percent, the services index 1.03 percent, the technology index 3.26 percent, and the industrial index 1.21 percent.

Compared to the previous close, 86 of the stocks included in the BIST 100 index rose, while 14 lost value during the first half of the day. The most actively traded stocks were Turkish Airlines, Tüpraş, Yapı ve Kredi Bankası, Ereğli Demir Çelik, and Koç Holding.

As of 1:00 PM, the simple yield of the benchmark bond maturing on February 18, 2026, traded in the Borsa Istanbul Debt Securities Market Outright Purchases and Sales Market, was at 42.93 percent, with a compound yield of 47.54 percent.

In international markets, as of 1:00 PM, the euro/dollar parity was at 1.0840, the sterling/dollar parity at 1.2670, and the dollar/yen parity at 150.70.

In the Istanbul free market, the dollar is being sold at 32.3400 liras and the euro at 35.0590 liras.

The ounce of gold is trading at 2,154 dollars in international markets, a decrease of 0.3 percent, while a barrel of Brent crude oil is trading at 86.2 dollars, a decrease of 0.2 percent.
