Midday in the markets: Latest on the dollar, euro, gold, and the stock exchange (April 19, 2024)

The stock market declined in the first half of the day.

As of 13:00, the index had decreased by 69.14 points compared to the previous close. The BIST 100 index, which closed at 9,524.59 points yesterday, started the day at 9,431.16 points, down 93.42 points and 0.98 percent.

During the first half of the day, the index saw a low of 9,420.90 points and a high of 9,488.16 points.

In the first half of the day, the technology index gained 0.69 percent in value, while the services index lost 0.59 percent, the financial index lost 0.58 percent, and the industrial index lost 0.51 percent.

Compared to the previous close, 34 of the stocks included in the BIST 100 index rose in the first half of the day, while 65 lost value. The most actively traded stocks were Turkish Airlines, Emlak Konut Real Estate Investment Trust, Tüpraş, Alarko Holding, and Yapı ve Kredi Bankası.

GOLD OUNCE PRICE AT 2,381 DOLLARS

In international markets, as of 13:00, the euro/dollar parity is at 1.0660, the sterling/dollar parity is at 1.2450, and the dollar/yen parity is at 154.50.

In the Istanbul free market, the dollar is being sold at 32.5970 liras and the euro at 34.8340 liras.

The ounce of gold is trading at 2,381 dollars in international markets with a 0.1 percent increase, while a barrel of London Brent crude oil is trading flat at 86.4 dollars.
