Midday in the markets: Latest on the dollar, euro, stock market, and gold (March 8, 2024)

As of 1:00 PM, the index had increased by 23.48 points compared to the previous close. The BIST 100 index, which closed at 9,054.18 points yesterday, started the day at 9,084.18 points, up 30.00 points and 0.33 percent.

During the first half of the day, the index saw a low of 9,023.85 points and a high of 9,133.44 points.

In the first half of the day, the financial index gained 0.17 percent, the services index 0.01 percent, and the technology index 0.67 percent, while the industrial index lost 0.30 percent.

Compared to the previous close, 36 of the stocks included in the BIST 100 index rose during the first half of the day, while 61 lost value. The most actively traded stocks were Türk Hava Yolları, Mia Teknoloji, Ereğli Demir Çelik, Yapı ve Kredi, and Koza Altın İşletmeleri.

GOLD OUNCE PRICE AT 2,169 DOLLARS

As of 1:00 PM, the simple yield of the benchmark bond maturing on February 18, 2026, traded in the Borsa Istanbul Bond and Bill Market Outright Purchase and Sale Market, was at 40.85 percent, and the compound yield was at 45.02 percent.

In international markets, as of 1:00 PM, the euro/dollar parity was at 1.0930, the sterling/dollar parity at 1.2830, and the dollar/yen parity at 147.10.

In the Istanbul free market, the dollar is being sold at 31.9530 lira and the euro at 34.9890 lira.

The ounce of gold is trading at 2,169 dollars in international markets with a 0.5 percent increase, and a barrel of Brent crude oil is trading at 82.8 dollars with a 0.3 percent increase.
