Midday in the markets: Latest on the stock exchange, euro, dollar, and gold (May 24, 2024)
The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul fell by 0.57 percent in the first half of the day to 10,730.89 points. In the Istanbul free market, the dollar is trading at 32.2600 lira and the euro at 34.9400 lira.
As of 1:00 PM, the stock exchange fell by 61.65 points, or 0.57 percent, compared to the previous close, dropping to 10,730.89 points. The BIST 100 index, which closed at 10,792.53 points yesterday, began the day at 10,784.20 points, a decrease of 8.33 points or 0.08 percent.
During the first half of the day, the index saw a low of 10,728.27 points and a high of 10,810.66 points.
In the first half of the day, the industrial index lost 0.68 percent, the services index 0.53 percent, the technology index 0.44 percent, and the financial index 0.33 percent.
Compared to the previous close, 30 of the stocks included in the BIST 100 index rose, while 69 lost value. The most actively traded stocks were Yapı ve Kredi Bankası, Alarko Holding, Türk Hava Yolları, Türkiye İş Bankası (C), and Koç Holding.
GOLD OUNCE PRICE AT 2,339 DOLLARS
In international markets, as of 1:00 PM, the euro/dollar parity is at 1.0840, the sterling/dollar parity is at 1.2720, and the dollar/yen parity is at 156.95.
In the Istanbul free market, the dollar is being sold at 32.2600 lira and the euro at 34.9400 lira.
The ounce of gold is trading at 2,339 dollars in international markets with a 0.5 percent increase, while a barrel of London Brent crude oil is trading at 80.5 dollars with a 0.8 percent decrease.
