Minimum wage base proposal revealed

Due to the economic policy implemented by the AKP in recent years, the minimum wage, which has become the "average wage," has remained below the hunger threshold in the current situation.

While economists and employees express their expectations and predictions regarding the minimum wage to be determined, Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay, who will sit at the table on behalf of the workers, announced the base figure from which they will start negotiations.

Speaking to NTV, Atalay said that they would start the negotiations from 14 thousand 25 TL, which is the hunger threshold for a family of 4.

With inflation breaking records in recent years, the minimum wage was being determined twice a year.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in his statement that the minimum wage will be determined once a year from now on.

MINIMUM WAGE REMAINS BELOW THE HUNGER THRESHOLD

According to the figures announced by Türk-İş, in November, the monthly food expenditure amount for a family of four (hunger threshold) was 14,025 TL, and the total income amount that needs to enter the household for all other basic expenses along with food (poverty threshold) was 45,686 TL.

In Turkey, where the hunger threshold is 14 thousand 25 TL, the net minimum wage is 11 thousand 402 TL.
