Minimum wage earners lost 2,819 liras in March

The DİSK Research Center (DİSK-AR) has published its April 2026 Wage Loss Monitoring Report. In statements made by the center via social media, it was noted that "High inflation and unfair taxes and deductions continue to rapidly reduce workers' income."

In the first three months of 2026, the total wage loss of workers was recorded as at least 393 billion 900 million liras. The report stated that this loss was primarily caused by inflation and the tax burden.

In the third month of the year, March 2026, the total loss caused by inflation alone was calculated at 189 billion liras. The cost of income and stamp taxes on workers' wages rose to 204.9 billion liras.

In the DİSK-AR statement, it was said, "Workers' total losses due to inflation and taxes increased by 37.8 percent compared to the same period last year."

The erosion in the income of minimum wage earners in March was also particularly striking. According to the report, those working for the minimum wage lost the income they earned over 9 days in March due to inflation, taxes, and various deductions. It was announced that the loss in average worker wages reached 9,111 liras in March.

According to March 2026 data, 27.6 percent of those earning one and a half times the minimum wage, 29.6 percent of those earning twice, 31.9 percent of those working for two and a half times the wage, and 34.5 percent of those earning three times experienced significant wage losses due to taxes, deductions, and inflation.
