Minister Işıkhan makes statement on retiree salaries
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan detailed improvements for public employees, ranging from the salaries and bonuses of retired civil servants to the supplementary indicator reform.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated in a post on his social media account that they have strengthened the financial and social rights of public employees since 2002.
"Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we have resolved the problems faced by our public employees that were once considered unsolvable," Işıkhan said, adding the following:
"We added balance to the process by introducing the right to appeal to the Public Officials Arbitration Board. We have provided significant improvements to the salaries and bonuses of our retired civil servants. We increased the additional payments for our healthcare workers and the compensation for our teachers. We granted permanent status to a total of 280 thousand contract personnel in 2011 and 2013, and to 460 thousand in 2023. We offered the right to unpaid leave for our civil servants who wish to go on Hajj. We have resolutely maintained the leave regulation for Friday prayer times. We provided an exemption from income tax up to the minimum wage. We carried out the supplementary indicator reform covering 5 million 300 thousand public officials."
