Minimum wage statement from Minister Işıkhan

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will meet in December to determine the minimum wage for 2024. Minister Işıkhan stated that the primary priority of the process is for worker and employer representatives to reach a consensus through common sense within the framework of social dialogue.

ATTENTION DRAWN TO GREEN AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Attending the "Worker-Employer Meetings in the Transforming Working Life in İzmir" program held in İzmir, Minister Işıkhan made important statements regarding the future of labor markets. Emphasizing that they are addressing the effects of green and digital transformation on labor markets, Işıkhan said, "This transformation process is reshaping not only production processes but also the structure of employment, professions, skill profiles, and working styles."

The Minister also touched upon the goals within the scope of Turkey's 12th Development Plan, such as green transformation, strengthening digital infrastructure, and increasing skill adaptation. "Adapting to the transformation process is no longer a choice, but a necessity to maintain our economic competitiveness," he said.

MINIMUM WAGE NEGOTIATIONS ADDRESSED

Making statements regarding the meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission to be held in December, Minister Işıkhan said that the main purpose of the meetings to be held with worker and employer representatives is to reach an optimal level that will satisfy both parties. The Minister said, "I believe that a consensus will be reached with common sense within the framework of social dialogue in this process."

STUDIES FOR THE LABOR MARKET

Işıkhan stated that they have implemented many projects to support developments and transformation in the labor market. He said that the "Candidate Pool System" launched last year has been used by more than 35 thousand employers and 2 million employee searches have been conducted. Emphasizing that this system offers significant time and cost advantages to employers, Işıkhan said, "It offers the opportunity to scan 3 million active job seekers in İŞKUR's database."

Stating that the meeting in İzmir was one of the first implementations of the "Project for Developing Workers' Skill Adaptations in the Green and Digital Transformation Process," Işıkhan expressed that such strategies will be further expanded in the coming periods. He also pointed out that the steps taken to increase labor force participation and improve employment provide benefits across the country.

İZMİR GOVERNOR AND DEPUTY ALSO SPOKE

İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban and AKP İzmir Deputy Ceyda Bölünmez Çankırı also attended the meeting. While Governor Elban emphasized İzmir's work on working life and economic transformation, Deputy Çankırı gave a speech describing local-level support.

Minister Işıkhan stated that all their policies adopt an approach that prioritizes social dialogue with labor at the center. The Minister expressed that the focus of the reforms they have carried out to date has been people and labor, and that these values are kept at the forefront in all projects.
