Minister Yerlikaya announces: Death toll from 615 traffic accidents during the holiday break revealed
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced on X that 615 traffic accidents occurred during the holiday period, resulting in the deaths of 19 citizens.
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the accident statistics for the Ramadan Feast holiday, which will last for 9 days.
19 CITIZENS LOST THEIR LIVES
Yerlikaya stated the following:
"Our speed checks with RADAR continue at NIGHT throughout the holiday; our inspections will continue on a 24-hour basis.
On the 3rd day of the holiday, Monday, April 8, 2024; 615 traffic accidents occurred. 360 thousand 495 vehicles were inspected. Speed and radar procedures were applied to 20 thousand 142 vehicles, and other procedures were applied to 37 thousand 830 vehicles.
In the first 3 days of the holiday in total; (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) 1 thousand 838 traffic accidents occurred. Unfortunately, 19 of our citizens lost their lives. 2 thousand 912 of our citizens were injured. I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to our injured."
