Ministry of Agriculture takes action: Savings circular sent to 81 provinces

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has implemented austerity measures with a circular sent to all its units. With the circular prepared under the signature of Deputy Minister Ahmet Bağcı, new instructions were conveyed to 81 provinces, 160 central units, and 16 regional directorates.

According to the report in Sözcü, the measures included in the circular sent by the Ministry are as follows:

* Preventing the use of photocopiers, printers, and paper for private purposes.

* Not paying for the printing and distribution costs of agendas, notepads, bags, etc., related to the promotion of administrative activities.

* Except for those permitted within the scope of austerity measures, not having promotional items, souvenirs, and gift items made, and not paying for them.

* Collecting and evaluating waste paper separately from other trash, and using special bags and boxes made for this purpose.

* Paying maximum attention to producing public service announcements, promotional films, and similar materials using the institution's own resources.

* Evaluating surplus personnel in other units of the institution to ensure there is no idle staff.

* Not employing personnel hired under the Labor Law in a way that would entitle them to overtime pay, except in mandatory cases.

* Avoiding unnecessary energy consumption in lighting. Taking care to use systems that ensure savings in water usage.

* Not acquiring new vehicles under any circumstances, except in urgent and mandatory cases.

HOW MANY VEHICLES ARE THERE IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR?

According to the data from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, there are 115 thousand 904 vehicles owned by public administrations within the scope of central government. Of the 115 thousand 904 vehicles, 72 thousand 373 are used for defense and security, 9,973 for health, 8,136 for agriculture and forestry, 7,579 for education, 4,772 for justice, and 13 thousand 71 for other administrative services.

The Presidency of Religious Affairs also has 408 vehicles registered in its inventory. There are 461 vehicles in the Presidency's vehicle fleet, and 130 vehicles in the inventory of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
