The "Regulation on Amending the Regulation on the Trade of Second-Hand Motor Land Vehicles," prepared by the Ministry, has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

In a written statement regarding the matter, the Ministry reported that numerous regulations have been implemented to eliminate consumer grievances in the automotive sector and to establish a fair, competitive, and stable market structure, and that inspection activities are being carried out across the country within this scope.

Pointing out that as a result of these efforts, supply and demand in the automotive market have balanced out and it has become easier for citizens to access new and second-hand vehicles, the statement noted: "In response to complaints regarding speculative price increases in the motorcycle market, intensive inspection activities are being carried out by our provincial directorates of trade and inspectors from our Ministry of Trade. In this context, administrative fines totaling approximately 18 million Turkish Lira have been imposed by the Unfair Price Evaluation Board on 4 businesses engaged in motorcycle trade on the grounds of hoarding. Furthermore, administrative fines totaling approximately 3 million Turkish Lira have been imposed on 34 businesses engaged in motorcycle trade that acted in violation of the regulation prohibiting the marketing of vehicles through advertisements at a price higher than the current sales price recommended by the manufacturer or distributor."

"ADDITIONAL MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN IF DEEMED NECESSARY"

The statement conveyed that with the regulation amendment, the marketing and sale of motorcycles have also been included in the 6-month, 6,000-kilometer regulation, and the following was recorded:

"In this context, before July 1, 2024, the marketing and sale of motorcycles that have not exceeded 6 months and 6,000 kilometers from the date of their first registration cannot be carried out directly or indirectly. In addition, it has been decided to include motorcycle sales in the practice of preventing sales within the scope of commercial activities that violate the 6-month, 6,000-kilometer marketing and sale restriction before notaries. As the Ministry of Trade, our efforts to ensure price stability and market balance in motorcycles, similar to those achieved for automobiles and off-road vehicles, will be meticulously continued, and if deemed necessary, additional measures will be taken immediately."
