Nearly half of tax collection in Turkey comes from Istanbul
According to data from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance's General Directorate of Public Accounts, 4.5 trillion liras in taxes were paid in 2023.

According to a report on NTV, Istanbul residents, who accounted for 47.5 percent of tax revenue, paid 2.1 trillion liras in taxes.
KOCAELI RANKS FIRST IN TAX PAYMENT
Although the tax collection rate is high in Istanbul, Kocaeli ranks first in this regard. The tax payment rate in Kocaeli is at the level of 94.9 percent.
In the city, 485 billion liras of the 511 billion lira tax debt was paid.
