Netflix gains record subscribers in the first quarter!

Netflix gained 9.33 million subscribers in the first quarter, exceeding analyst expectations and reaching a total of approximately 270 million subscribers.

According to consensus estimates from StreetAccount analysts, as reported by Sözcü, Netflix was expected to add 3.93 million paid subscribers worldwide in the first quarter, which would have meant reaching a total of 264.21 million subscribers. However, Netflix reported that it reached 269.60 million subscribers as of March 31.

These impressive first-quarter results follow the record 13.1 million subscriber increase for Netflix in the fourth quarter of 2023. Nevertheless, despite this continuous growth, Netflix's announcement that it will stop reporting quarterly totals starting in 2025 came as a surprise to the industry.

Notable programs in the first quarter of 2024 that contributed to Netflix's growth include "Avatar: The Last Airbender", "3 Body Problem", "The Gentleman", "Love Is Blind", "Fool Me Once", "Griselda", "Mea Culpa" and "Damsel".

Looking at regional subscriber growth, there was an increase of 2.53 million in the US and Canada, 2.92 million in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 1.72 million in Latin America, and 2.16 million in the Asia-Pacific market in the first quarter.
