New development regarding rental tax!

It is claimed that a new development has occurred regarding the tax reform draft that AKP deputies were preparing to bring to the TBMM at the beginning of June. It is stated that the decision to abolish the exemption, which allows landlords who rent out their homes at a low price to pay lower Income Tax, has been reversed.

If the provision were to become law, the taxes of landlords, especially those who rent out their only home and make a living from it, would increase extraordinarily, and rents would indirectly increase as well.

According to the report by Erdoğan Süzer from Sözcü, the regulation also caused great discomfort within the AKP. Upon the increasing reactions, the article foreseeing the abolition of the exemption was removed from the draft text.

A tax exemption is applied to the portion of landlords' rental income up to 33 thousand liras. This amount is increased again every year. Those whose rental income in 2023 remained below 33 thousand liras did not pay any tax thanks to the exemption. Those who earned higher rental income paid tax on their remaining income after 33 thousand TL was deducted. A provision had been included in the tax reform bill to completely abolish this exemption.
