New figures released for Turkey's external debt stock
Turkey's gross external debt reached 564.9 billion dollars as of September 30. Net external debt was recorded at 279.4 billion dollars.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has shared the latest data regarding the country's external and public debt with the public. According to the statistics released, Turkey's gross external debt stock stood at 564.9 billion dollars at the end of the third quarter of 2024. This figure indicates that the ratio of gross external debt to national income is at the level of 36.7 percent.
In the same period, the net external debt stock reached 279.4 billion dollars, and its ratio to national income was determined to be 18.2 percent. The Treasury-guaranteed external debt stock was identified as 15.3 billion dollars.
Looking at the public net debt stock, it is seen to have reached the level of 8 trillion 236 billion liras. The ratio of this amount to national income was announced as 14.3 percent.
The European Union (EU) defined general government debt stock was also included in the report. Accordingly, while the EU-defined general government debt rose to 14 trillion 133 billion liras, the ratio of this value to national income was calculated as 24.5 percent.
These figures are considered an important indicator in determining and evaluating the economic policies followed by Turkey in terms of public finance and debt management.
