APPROVED BY MAJORITY VOTE
The proposal for a 28.09 percent increase in taxi and shuttle service fares was approved by a majority vote at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) meeting.
TAXI DRIVERS WHO FOUND THE HIKE INSUFFICIENT ATTACKED THE BUILDING
After an additional agenda item regarding taxi drivers who converted from minibuses to 8+1 taxis—requesting that the conversion period to 4+1 taxis be reduced from 3 years to 1 year—was not included in the agenda and instead referred to a sub-commission, taxi drivers who also found the price hike insufficient caused a disturbance in front of the building where the UKOME meeting was held.
