New LPG price hike takes effect tonight: Prices in major cities to hit record levels

While fuel prices in Turkey have recently remained stable for gasoline and diesel, a significant price increase is expected for LPG (autogas). Industry representatives stated that a 74-kuruş hike will be applied to autogas, which is often preferred for economic reasons, effective from midnight on Tuesday. This increase will be reflected on station signs during the night hours.

Experts emphasize that the price increase in LPG will lead to a notable rise in drivers' monthly fuel expenditures.

CURRENT LPG PRICES AND THE TABLE AFTER THE HIKE

The prices for LPG before and after the hike are as follows:

• In the European side of Istanbul, the current price of 29.29 TL for LPG will rise to 30.03 TL after the hike.
• On the Anatolian side of Istanbul, the price of 28.69 TL will increase to 29.43 TL.
• In Ankara, a rise from 29.17 TL to 29.91 TL per liter is expected.
• In İzmir, the LPG price will be 29.83 TL after the hike.

Thus, the price per liter of LPG will exceed the psychologically significant 30 TL threshold for the first time in some cities, starting with the European side of Istanbul.

Gasoline and diesel prices across Turkey remain unaffected by this hike. Gasoline prices remain stable in the 55 TL range, while diesel is in the 57-58 TL range. The current distribution of fuel prices by city is as follows:

• European side of Istanbul: Gasoline 55.27 TL, Diesel 57.43 TL, LPG 29.29 TL
• Anatolian side of Istanbul: Gasoline 55.09 TL, Diesel 57.25 TL, LPG 28.69 TL
• Ankara: Gasoline 56.17 TL, Diesel 58.51 TL, LPG 29.17 TL

These figures will be adjusted upward for LPG following the hike.

It is noted that the decision to hike LPG prices will particularly impact public transportation and commercial vehicle use, and that drivers may turn to searching for alternative fuels.
