The government, which has been criticized for failing to combat high inflation, has taken a new step regarding the determination of bread and simit prices. This move has been interpreted in economic circles as an effort to prevent price hikes.
Price hikes on bread, one of the most basic foods that citizens rely on to feed themselves, are a frequent topic of discussion and are considered an important parameter in showing the current state of the economy.
According to a report on NTV, the AKP government is testing a new method to curb price hikes on bread and simit.
The price of bread and simit will be evaluated by a commission consisting of representatives from the relevant municipality, the Provincial Directorate of Trade, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the chamber of commerce and industry or the chamber of commerce, and the relevant professional chamber.
It will be approved by the Union after receiving the positive opinion of the Ministry of Trade.
