New raise calculation for the lowest pension: Here are the figures being discussed
As of May, the 5-month inflation difference for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees was calculated at 16.6 percent. With the announcement of June inflation, the raise rate to be applied in July will become clear. The lowest pension is expected to rise above 23 thousand 500 liras.
The countdown has begun for the July raise to be applied to the lowest pension. The lowest pension, which was increased from 14 thousand 469 liras to 16 thousand 881 liras in July last year and raised to 20 thousand liras in January this year, is expected to be determined based on 6-month inflation data for the new increase.
Following the announcement of May inflation figures, the 5-month inflation difference for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees was calculated at 16.6 percent. The final raise rate will be clarified with the June inflation data to be announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on July 3.
WHICH RATES STAND OUT IN THE JULY RAISE?
It is stated that if June inflation occurs in line with economists' expectations, an increase of approximately 18.4 percent could be applied to the lowest pension.
According to TÜİK data, June inflation averaged 2.38 percent in the 2022-2025 period. If a similar rate is seen in June, there will be a 19.4 percent increase in the pensions of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in July, and a 15.1 percent increase in civil servant salaries and retired civil servant pensions.
HOW MUCH COULD THE NEW BASE PENSION BE?
According to current calculations, the lowest pension is expected to rise to 23 thousand 580 liras in line with the Central Bank's inflation forecasts. When the average June inflation of the last four years is taken as a basis, it is predicted that this figure could rise to approximately 23 thousand 880 liras.
LEGAL REGULATION WILL COME TO PARLIAMENT
According to the report by Habertürk, a legal regulation is required to increase the lowest pension. Following the announcement of June inflation data, the AK Party Group is expected to submit a 15-16 article legislative proposal to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, which also includes the increase in the lowest pension.
