New records at Borsa Istanbul: The top gainers and losers have been revealed
As the Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index continued its upward trend last week, the top-gaining and top-losing stocks remained the focus of investors. Domestic economic data, alongside global developments, influenced stock performance.
The BIST 100 index continued its approximately 34 percent rise since the beginning of the year last week. Between May 4 and May 8, the index increased by 4.29 percent, closing the week at a record level. The index, which started the week at 14,506 points, finished at 15,062 points. The lowest level recorded during the week was 14,321 points, while the highest was 15,167 points, a level reached for the first time in history.
The banking index recorded a weekly increase of 3.65 percent, the holding index rose by 5.81 percent, and the industrial index gained 5.78 percent, drawing attention.
Among the companies in the BIST 100, Kiler Holding (KLRHO) was the top-performing stock of the week with a 31.57 percent increase. It was followed by Hektaş (HEKTS) with a 29.45 percent rise and Mia Teknoloji (MIATK) with a 24.12 percent increase.
On the other hand, the stocks that disappointed investors the most were also revealed. Pasifik Eurasia Lojistik (PASEU) topped the list of losers with a 21.74 percent decline, while Destek Finans Faktoring (DSTKF) and Gen İlaç (GENIL) were among the week's losers with losses of 8.50 percent and 7.13 percent, respectively.
Looking at the market capitalization of companies on Borsa Istanbul, Aselsan (ASELS) maintained its lead with a value of 1 trillion 953 billion 960 million TL. Destek Finans Faktoring (DSTKF) took second place with 832 billion TL, while Enka İnşaat (ENKAI) came in third with a value of 667 billion TL.
In terms of stocks with the highest trading volume within the index, Sasa Polyester (SASA) took the top spot with a trading volume of 115 billion 161 million TL. It was followed by Türk Hava Yolları (THYAO) with 94 billion 929 million TL and Astor Enerji (ASTOR) with 62 billion 948 million TL in trading volume.
Despite debates over war and ceasefires abroad and fluctuations in global markets, the records set at Borsa Istanbul continue to increase investor interest.
