Notable decline in economic confidence index

Data regarding economic confidence in Turkey for April 2026 has been released. The economic confidence index, which stood at 97.9 last month, fell by 1.5 percent in April to 96.4, remaining below 100.

When examining the sub-indices covering different sectors of the economy, it was observed that the real sector confidence index, which represents the manufacturing industry, fell by 1.4 percent in April to 98.6. In the services sector, there was a 3.1 percent decrease, bringing the confidence index to 109.7. Retail trade confidence also decreased by 1.8 percent, falling to 111.6.

On the other hand, the consumer confidence index showed a slight increase in April, rising by 0.5 percent to be recorded at 85.5. In the construction sector, the confidence index rose to 83.6 with a 3.6 percent increase.

The economic confidence index ranges between 0 and 200. While the index falling below 100 indicates pessimism in society's expectations regarding the general economic situation, levels above 100 reveal an optimistic picture. With the latest data released, it is noteworthy that economic confidence in the country continues to hover below the optimism threshold of 100.
