Number of vehicles registered in 2023 has been announced

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has published the Motor Land Vehicles statistics for December. The increase in the number of vehicles registered to traffic drew attention.

In Turkey, the number of vehicles registered to traffic in 2023 increased by 80.3% compared to the previous year, reaching 2 million 290 thousand 280, while the number of vehicles withdrawn from traffic decreased by 10.9% to 31 thousand 721. Thus, there was an increase of 2 million 258 thousand 559 in the total number of vehicles on the road during the January-December period.

NEARLY 200 THOUSAND VEHICLES REGISTERED IN DECEMBER

In December, automobiles accounted for 45.3% of the vehicles registered to traffic, followed by motorcycles at 38.3%, small trucks at 9.7%, tractors at 4.7%, trucks at 1.2%, minibuses at 0.4%, buses at 0.3%, and special-purpose vehicles at 0.1%.

NEARLY 10 PERCENT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES

 In December, the number of vehicles registered to traffic increased compared to the previous month by 148.4% for special-purpose vehicles, 29.0% for tractors, 17.4% for small trucks, 13.1% for motorcycles, and 4.9% for automobiles, while it decreased by 29.0% for trucks, 18.1% for buses, and 8.6% for minibuses.

DOUBLED IN ONE YEAR

In December, compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of vehicles registered to traffic increased by 107.0% for special-purpose vehicles, 59.6% for automobiles, 49.6% for motorcycles, 47.1% for buses, 47.0% for minibuses, 15.0% for small trucks, and 5.1% for tractors, while it decreased by 16.8% for trucks.

THERE ARE 28 MILLION VEHICLES IN TRAFFIC

As of the end of December, automobiles accounted for 53.0% of the vehicles registered to traffic, followed by motorcycles at 17.7%, small trucks at 15.6%, tractors at 7.6%, trucks at 3.3%, minibuses at 1.8%, buses at 0.7%, and special-purpose vehicles at 0.3%.
