Olive oil prices bring a smile to producers' faces

In Kilis, one of the key centers for olive production in Turkey, which boasts 4 million olive trees across 300 thousand decares of land, the start of the harvest for oil and table olives has led to a surge in activity at olive oil mills. Olives gathered from centuries-old trees at the first light of dawn are being processed into olive oil at mills located throughout the city. Due to the low harvest yield, olive oil prices starting at 220 TL per liter have brought a smile to the faces of producers.

"Price increases occurred due to the very low harvest yield"
Stating that the harvest, a vital source of income for the region, is nearing its end, Chamber of Agricultural Engineers President Güven Özdemir said, "In the city where the harvest continues, olive oil mills are operating at full capacity 24 hours a day. Because the harvest yield is very low this year, price increases have occurred, and the farmers are pleased."

"Harvest and olive oil production work continues"
Noting that mills in the city are working around the clock as the olive harvest continues, olive oil mill operator Mehmet Hoşaf said, "The harvest began on October 28 and has been continuing without pause. As a mill, we manage the journey of the olive from fruit to oil. We are working at full capacity 24/7 without stopping."

"Harvest yield is low, but olive oil output is high"
Farmer Ali Kürkçüoğlu, who noted that the harvest is small but prices are high, said, "We started the harvest in a 'lean year,' but because the oil yield in the olives is high, our tins have been filled with oil in a way that makes us happy, and I am very pleased."
