Ongoing attacks on Gaza cited as reason

Presidential Spokesperson Maria Nela Prada and Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani announced the decision to sever diplomatic ties with Israel during a joint press conference. Stating that they held this press conference due to the dangerous developments in the Middle East, Mamani said, "Bolivia has decided to sever diplomatic ties with the state of Israel. Our country had previously issued two official statements regarding the Palestinian issue."

Recalling the United Nations (UN) human rights convention, Mamani stated, "Bolivia rejects all forms of cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment as set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."

Deputy Minister Mamani emphasized that a ceasefire must be achieved "immediately," adding, "The aggressive and disproportionate military offensive carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip threatens international peace and must be condemned as such. The entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian supplies must not be obstructed. The blockade imposed by Israel on Palestinian settlements must be lifted."
