LOWEST INCOME GROUPS CAN ONLY ALLOCATE 0.2 PERCENT TO EDUCATION

Drawing attention to the household expenditure type table in his post, İnan Mutlu emphasized that citizens at the lowest rung of the income distribution cannot allocate a budget for their children's education.

In his post on the social media platform, Mutlu stated: "The poorest groups cannot afford education spending. The lowest income groups can only spend 0.2 percent, 0.4 percent, and 0.7 percent on education, respectively."

THE STRUGGLE FOR QUALITY AND FREE EDUCATION IS INEVITABLE

Commenting on the rates in the "Education services" row marked with a red frame in the table, İnan Mutlu expressed his criticisms of the political authority he holds responsible for the current situation and his proposed solution with these words: "The AKP's low-quality education policies are evident. The struggle for quality, scientific, and free education is inevitable to change the fate of this society..."

THE EDUCATION GAP IN OFFICIAL DATA IS STRIKING

When the "household percentages ranked by income" table is examined, the difference in education spending between the poorest and the wealthiest segments is clearly visible. According to the data, while the share of education services in total expenditure for the first 20 percent group with the lowest income share was 0.5 percent in 2024, it has declined to 0.2 percent in 2025. In the second 20 percent segment, this rate was recorded as 0.4 percent for 2025, and as 0.7 percent in the third group.

In contrast, the share of education expenditures in the final, wealthiest 20 percent group, which receives the largest share of income, rose from 2.7 percent in 2024 to 3.4 percent in 2025. This situation concretely demonstrates how much lower-income groups are struggling to access the right to education and how equality of opportunity has disappeared as the economic crisis and income inequality deepen.
