Pro-government newspaper claims 'bonus for working retirees too'! 'Work has begun'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the 5,000 TL bonus as good news, and the payments have been deposited into the accounts of non-working retirees only.

While reactions continue regarding the exclusion of working retirees from the bonus in question, it has been claimed that the AKP has initiated work regarding other retirees who were exempted from the 5,000 lira bonus given to non-working retirees.

According to a report by the pro-government Türkiye newspaper, following the backlash, AKP officials met with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again. Party staff reportedly proposed to the President: “We implemented a very good practice for retirees; however, due to these exceptions, it is the negatives being discussed rather than the positives. Let us make a regulation and grant it to all retirees, including working retirees.”

It is alleged that Erdoğan viewed the proposal favorably and requested that preparations be made to grant 5,000 TL to all retirees.

If the decision to grant the bonus to working retirees is finalized, a legal regulation will be required.

On the other hand, it is being discussed that the scope of the bonus will also include retired village headmen (muhtars), retired municipal council members, and provincial general assembly members.
