The products with the highest price increases and decreases in Istanbul have been announced

According to March data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, eggplant saw the highest price increase, while the most significant decline was recorded in cucumbers.

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products in Istanbul with the highest increases and decreases in retail prices for March 2026, along with their respective rates. According to the statement, compared to the previous month, prices increased for 212 of the 336 main products in the index, while 38 products saw a decline.

EGGPLANT TOPS THE LIST IN INCREASES

In March, eggplant, which is in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, became the product with the highest price increase at 55.94 percent.

Other products with price increases included curly lettuce at 45.46 percent, airline tickets in the transportation group at 45.21 percent, and bell peppers at 40.15 percent. Hot peppers increased by 34.19 percent, and Charleston peppers rose by 32.99 percent.

In the transportation group, diesel fuel rose by 23.99 percent, while medicine prices in the health group increased by 21.94 percent. Intercity bus ticket fares recorded an increase of 21.02 percent.

In the food group, green beans rose by 19.29 percent, and pet food expenditures in the recreation and culture group increased by 17.06 percent. In the education group, other stationery materials increased by 13.85 percent, and pens by 13.78 percent.

Also in the food group, spinach showed a price increase of 12.64 percent, cauliflower 12.45 percent, and tomatoes 8.66 percent.

LARGEST DECLINE IN CUCUMBERS

In March, cucumbers, which are in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, became the product with the largest price drop, with a decline of 26.50 percent.

Other products with decreasing prices included zucchini at 16.25 percent, and gold jewelry in the miscellaneous goods and services group at 11.58 percent. In the food group, strawberries fell by 8.91 percent, lemons by 7.08 percent, and green onions by 6.28 percent.

In the household goods group, carpets declined by 4.73 percent, while in the food group, fish became 4.22 percent cheaper. In the transportation group, daily car rentals decreased by 3.10 percent.

Oranges fell by 2.98 percent, vehicle spare parts and equipment by 1.70 percent, and notebooks in the education group by 1.67 percent. In the household goods group, combi boilers declined by 1.20 percent.

In the food group, parsley recorded a price drop of 0.84 percent, sugar cubes 0.27 percent, and instant coffee 0.16 percent.
