Rapid rise in Borsa Istanbul following ceasefire
As optimism grows in global markets following the temporary ceasefire between the US, Israel, and Iran, Borsa Istanbul opened the day with a 3.34 percent gain. Buying was observed to be widespread across the index.
The optimistic atmosphere created in global markets by the temporary ceasefire reached between the US, Israel, and Iran has also reflected positively on Turkish markets. Following the rise seen in Asian stock markets, a notable recovery occurred in Borsa Istanbul as well.
The BIST 100 index started the day with a 3.34 percent increase at 13,353 points. At the opening, it was observed that buying stood out in the majority of stocks and the rise was widespread.
As will be recalled, the index had entered a downward trend following the peak of 14,532 points it saw in mid-February. The escalating tension and war risk between the US and Iran had increased selling pressure, pulling the index back to 12,433 points. The upward momentum that had formed since the beginning of the year had been interrupted due to geopolitical developments.
With the latest ceasefire development, the weakening of risk perception has strengthened the appetite for buying in the market once again.
