Record decline in the number of stock market investors! Everyone is leaving...
According to Central Securities Depository (MKK) data, the number of equity investors has begun to decline following its record level on May 18.
The number of investors in the stock market decreased by 46,127 people as of May 25 compared to the previous week. The total number of investors fell from its record level of 8 million 614 thousand 243 to 8 million 578 thousand 116.
THE EFFECT OF INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERINGS (IPOs)
While the positive performance of the stock market has been effective in increasing the number of investors, new IPOs also accelerate investor entry. However, profit-taking following IPOs led to a decline in the number of investors in the last week.
In the first 5 months of this year, 17 companies went public. In a market where investor interest in IPOs has begun to wane, the share prices of some companies have fallen below their IPO levels.
Of the 17 IPOs conducted this year, 6 took place in February, 3 in March, 1 in April, and the remaining 7 in May. Three of the companies that went public this year disappointed investors by falling below their IPO price. The IPO index, which hit a record high of 119,296 points in February, fell to 96,895 points as of Friday.
Experts say that the losses recently experienced in IPOs will negatively affect investor interest.
