Revealed by TurkStat's inflation report: Price hike champion hits education
According to TurkStat data, the item with the highest price increase in September was university dormitories at 50.40 percent. Consequently, education and housing were the areas most affected by inflation.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced that the CPI increased by 2.97 percent in September, reaching 49.38 percent on an annual basis.
The price hike champion of September was university dormitories with a 50.40 percent price increase. They were followed by university education at 45.27 percent, eggs at 34.25 percent, nurseries at 23.86 percent, fresh fish at 18.65 percent, urban bus transportation at 12.74 percent, and carpets at 11.17 percent.
ITEMS WITH PRICE DECREASES
The product with the largest price decrease in September was other personal accessories not classified elsewhere, at 4.31 percent.
Mobile phones and accessories at 3.93 percent, breakfast cereals at 3.67 percent, airline passenger transport at 3.36 percent, and potatoes at 2.72 percent were identified as the items with the most significant declines.
HIGHEST ANNUAL INCREASE IN RENT
Looking at the annual basis, the item with the highest increase was rent at 117.43 percent, followed by university education at 108.89 percent.
