Sanchez, who made an emergency landing in Ankara, has left Turkey

The Airbus A310 aircraft carrying Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who was en route to Armenia for the European Political Community meeting, made an emergency landing in Ankara on the night of May 3 due to a technical issue.

Following the landing, a technical inspection of the aircraft was initiated, and Sanchez spent the night in Ankara. It was reported that the Spanish Prime Minister left his hotel in the morning and headed to Esenboğa Airport in a convoy with his accompanying delegation.

It was stated that Sanchez and his delegation departed from Ankara to attend the 8th Summit of the European Political Community to be held in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. It was noted that the technical malfunction on the aircraft was not serious, but all necessary procedures were carried out in accordance with safety protocols.

NOT THE FIRST TIME

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez had previously experienced a similar situation. On September 4, 2025, the plane carrying Sanchez, who was on his way to a meeting on Ukraine held in Paris, had to return in mid-air due to a technical malfunction. Unable to attend that meeting in person, Sanchez joined the program via an online connection.
