Shock in the sector: Furniture giant producing for luxury hotels and shopping malls goes bankrupt

The difficult days have come to an end for WD Group Mobilya, one of Turkey's leading furniture and project decoration companies. The firm, which specialized in custom production for corporate spaces such as airports, hotels, shopping malls, and hospitals, as well as large residential projects, and operated in its 15,000-square-meter modern facility, was unable to overcome its economic difficulties and decided to file for bankruptcy.

Starting its operations in 2012 and making a name for itself both domestically and internationally in a short time, WD Group had specialized particularly in contract furniture projects. It stood out as a solution partner in many major projects with its wide product range in metal, wood, upholstery, and painted furniture.

The firm, which was experiencing financial difficulties, had sought to catch its breath by requesting a concordat in the past period, but this process did not yield a positive result. Finally, information reaching the Bursa Trade Registry Office shows that the court ruled that there was no possibility for the company to recover its financial strength and finalized the bankruptcy decision.

With the decision taken in accordance with Article 288 of the Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law, official steps have been initiated for the disposal of the company's assets through the "simple liquidation" method. With the establishment of the bankruptcy estate and the transfer of advances, the process will continue under the control of the Bursa Bankruptcy Office.

The closure of WD Group has created a domino effect not only for the company itself but also for the suppliers and subcontractors it worked with. It is stated that the next steps for many firms and projects operating in the construction and decoration sectors will be shaped according to the proceedings to be carried out after the bankruptcy.
