Statement from Erdoğan on minimum wage and pension

Expectations are rising regarding the minimum wage, which concerns millions of citizens. The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, consisting of worker and employer representatives, will meet in December.

A new statement on the matter has come from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

"As you know, the minimum wage issue has its own schedule," said Erdoğan, adding, "We had provided relief to our workers with an interim raise, and now I believe we will bring the worker and employer sides together to find the most reasonable solution."

'WE HAVE STOOD BY RETIREES AND EMPLOYEES'

Touching upon pensions in his speech, Erdoğan continued as follows:

"We are determined to fight the inflation problem that is also occupying the global agenda.

We have broken the back of inflation, and we will erase its effects in the coming period.

We have always said that we would not let our employees and retirees be crushed by inflation, and thank God, we have kept our word. We have implemented a raise in the minimum wage at a rate unprecedented in the history of the republic.

We have increased the salaries of our retirees and developed solutions that will provide them with further relief, and we will implement them very soon. As you know, we have also planned to make the 5 thousand lira bonus payments that will provide short-term relief to our retirees within this month.

With the measures we have taken and the payments we will make, we have stood by our retirees and employees, and we will continue to do so from now on.

As you know, the minimum wage issue has its own schedule. We had provided relief to our workers with an interim raise, and now I believe we will bring the worker and employer sides together to find the most reasonable solution."
