Statement from the Center for Combating Disinformation regarding 'exchange rate intervention'
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation has issued a statement regarding claims of "intervention in the exchange rate, and increases in SCT and VAT." The Center stated that the claims are not true.
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications Center for Combating Disinformation issued a statement on its social media account regarding the claim appearing in some media outlets that "The exchange rate will be intervened in if necessary, and there will be an increase in SCT and VAT."
The statement made from the Center's X account is as follows:
"The claim appearing in some media outlets that 'The exchange rate will be intervened in if necessary, and there will be an increase in SCT and VAT' is not true.
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek met with representatives of the business world, as well as heads of chambers and commodity exchanges, in a closed-door meeting. The claim that Minister Şimşek said in the aforementioned meeting that the exchange rate would be intervened in or that there would be an increase in SCT and VAT does not reflect the truth.
Speculative news made outside of statements from authorized persons and institutions should not be given credence."
