Stock market hits record high
The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul reached a record level of 11,252.11 points in the first half of the day.
The BIST 100 index, which climbed to an all-time high of 11,252.11 points in the first half of the day, stood at 11,189.74 as of 1:00 PM, marking a gain of 55.67 points and 0.50 percent compared to the previous close. The total trading volume reached the level of 52.2 billion lira.
While the banking index lost 0.40 percent in value, the holding index gained 0.15 percent.
Among sector indices, the forestry, paper, and printing sector was the top gainer with 2.25 percent, while the food and beverage sector was the top loser with 1.31 percent.
Analysts stated that global equity markets are following a mixed course as the selling pressure on technology stocks spreads worldwide, noting that all eyes are on the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy decisions today.
Noting that a busy data agenda, primarily the ECB's interest rate decision, will be followed abroad today, analysts recorded that from a technical perspective, 11,250 and 11,350 points are in the position of resistance for the BIST 100 index, while 11,000 and 10,900 levels are in the position of support.
